wichita, kansas
What a city for entertainment!
From a night of cosmic bowling, go cart racing and skee ball to multiple nights patronizing the local dinner movie theater, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in Wichita. In fact, the only thing I would have changed was the weather. We hit highs of 108 degrees both days and our poor air conditioner was working overtime. Despite the heat though we had some marvelous Kansas folks come and here are a few of of the people we met:
Meet Carolyn
My aha moment came when I realized that the once large and thriving Mexican community that used to live here was losing its history. In an effort to preserve that I decided to quit my job and spend two years finding old photographs, conducting interviews and compiling information to remind the community of the history of these people.
Meet Ambrea:
My aha moment was when I found the Breakthrough Center for people suffering from mental illness. It was here that I felt like I had a support ground of people who understood me. I have made great strides to make a better life for myself because of the people who have helped me at the Breakthrough center.
Meet Ben:
My aha moment came when I traveled to Africa in order to film a native tribe of the Serengeti for a documentary I was filming. These people were so kind and happy, though they had little possessions. It was that moment that I truly understood the saying that “Less is more”.”
Great time in Wichita and now we head to Grand Junction, Colorado with several days off in between! Stay tuned for the adventures we find.
